    The end of the 70’s and begin of the 80s marked milestone in the history of RC cars. This is the era where RC cars moved from simple scale models to high-performance models. And Delta was one of the early brands to build these high-performance cars.
    A good example is this Delta CK800, developed for racing on the highest level.

  3. Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE

    The Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE, kit no. 3136H, was an upgraded version of the Kyosho Turbo Mid, a populair version of the the 1/10th scale 4WD buggy. The model is one of the very succesfull designs of Mr. Akira Kogawa from Kyosho and originated around 1988.

  4. Yu’can offroad buggy / MRC Buffalo

    The Dutch brand Jumbo, a brand of the toy company Bart Smit, made several types RC cars and were a real big name in the RC Stockcar world for decades. The Dutch company made under the brandname Jumbo the Yu’can cars which were often licensed copies of existing models from different brands. For on road they made a copy of the legendary 1:8 Delta with the angled engine and for off road they made a copy of the MRC Buffalo. (more…)


  5. Kyosho (Robbe) Honda ATC 250R

    The Robbe/Kyosho Honda ATC250R (kit no. 3442) is a high-performance, three-wheeled ATV model in the scale 1:6th based on a tricycle produced by Honda from 1981 to 1987.

  10. Tamiya Blazing Blazer 4×4 (1982)

    Tamiya model #58029 – The Tamiya Blazing Blazer 4×4 is the second model from in the famous “three-speed series” from Tamiya, it was an unusual vehicle, modeled after an off-road racing truck. The vintage Tamiya Blazing Blazer 4×4 is one of the most sought after and memorable models by collectors along with the Tamiya Hilux, Mountaineer and Bruiser that were also part of series ‘3-speed Bruisers” from Tamiya.

  11. Kyosho (Robbe) 4×4 Ford Ranger

    Kyosho made two versions of this 4×4 ‘Bruiser’ type of offroad car in the early eighties (1982/1983). One version was an electrical type with the body of a Chevrolet 4×4 pick-up which had Kyosho item #3008. This electrical version was also available as 4WD Jeep Indiana. The other version had a nitro engine and was available with a 4WD Datsun or a Ford Ranger body. The nitoengine version of the Ford Ranger 4×4 is featured in this article. In Europe these models were sold by Robbe under their own name. Both, the nitro and electrical models, are chain driven 4WD.

  12. Kyosho Super Alta VW Beetle 1/12th scale

    This is the Kyosho Super Alta VW Beetle, Kit no. 3056 from the early ’80’s.

    The Super Alta chassis is an 1/12th scale electro 2-WD chassis with a 540-size motor which was placed in front of the rear axle. Direct drive with gear-differential in the right rear wheel. At the front it has indepent suspention on both wheels and the rear is a sort of ‘fixed power pod’ which is ‘fixed’ in the chassis and has a rubber plate on the bottom which allows a little movement.   13. Kyosho Circuit 10 WildCat 1/10

    The Kyosho Circuit 10 Wildcat Buggy has features that leave other 1/10th scale offroad-cars behind.
    The Wildcat features a double wishbone suspention system with oil-filled shocks. It measures 17″and has 1 1/8″ of ground clearance. The Wildcat came already assambled. Required a 0.9 – 1.0 ci engine, a heatsink head and a 2-channel radio.

  17. Tamiya Toyota 4×4 Pick-Up – 1982

    The Tamiya Toyota 4×4 Pick-Up of 1982 reviewed by Radio Control Model Cars. It featured a realistic 3 speed transmission and a solid axle leaf spring suspension. Introduced in november 1981, this fantastic scale Toyota was the first of Tamiya’s 3-speed trucks with a detailed bodyshell and predominantly metal chassis. Nowadays perhaps one of Tamiya’s most expensive vintage models for collectors.
